Protecting Your Dog from Heartworm Disease

All dogs over six months of age at our shelter are tested for heartworms, and all dogs are on monthly heartworm prevention.

Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal condition caused by parasitic worms living in the heart and lungs. Prevention is the best approach—it's safer, easier, and much less expensive than treatment.

Community Program

Trap | Neuter | Return

TNR is the most humane and effective method for managing feral cat colonies. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and returned to their outdoor home.

This approach stabilizes colony populations, improves the cats' health, and reduces nuisance behaviors like fighting and spraying. Over time, colonies naturally decrease in size.
