Information you give us

We only collect the information you choose to submit through our forms — the adoption application, the volunteer application, and the contact form. Depending on the form, this may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, household details, and the answers you provide about your home and experience with pets. We do not ask for, and you should never send us, sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or payment card numbers through these forms.

How we use it

We use your information solely to respond to and process your request — to review an adoption application, follow up about volunteering, or answer your message. With your consent (given on the adoption application), we may contact the landlord and veterinarian references you provide. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

Service providers

Form submissions are delivered to our staff email through a third-party form-delivery service (FormSubmit). Pet photos and details shown on the site are provided by our shelter-management system (ShelterManager). These providers process data only to deliver our forms and content. We encourage you to review their respective privacy practices.

Information stored in your browser

When you mark a pet as a favorite, that list is saved only in your own browser's local storage on your device. It is never sent to us and you can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Data retention

We keep application and inquiry information only as long as needed to serve you and to keep reasonable records of our adoption and volunteer programs. You may ask us to delete information you've submitted by contacting us.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Your choices

You can decline to provide information, though some of it is needed to process an application. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have submitted, email office@hsicshelter.org.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
